Meet Daisy
Sweet, Gentle, and Easy Going
This past winter, as everyone was preparing for the freeze, I received a text message asking if I could take in two senior dogs. They were a bonded pair, dropped off at animal control when one of their owners died. Because of their age, the shelter was not even an option. They were put directly on the euthanasia list. A volunteer reached out. She said she heard about us from a friend. The dogs were being housed in a building with no heat. Time was of the essence. The freeze was to hit Friday night. I took off work early to meet the volunteer halfway. They were coming all the way from Port Lavaca. I called everywhere looking for a possible foster home. Miraculously, with some FB posts and many shares, I found an amazing Foster. I picked the dogs up and drove them another couple of hours through rain and approaching darkness. We made it to their warm and welcoming space just in time. We set up their new beds next to the fireplace and they settled in with the family's six other pups! It truly takes a village!!
Daisy (13) is 70 pounds of pure Labrador love. She is sweet, gentle and easy going. She handled all of her travels and change with style and grace. She does great with other dogs. We are so grateful to have been able to help her. She is heartworm positive and needs medication. She also needs a special diet to help her lose a little weight to make her more comfortable. Daisy will likely need some pain management. We need to raise money for her vet visit, pain meds, heartworm meds and dental cleaning/extraction. Our rescue covers all the costs of care given by Fosters to help the dogs become more adoptable.
Rusty (12) sadly passed away at the sanctuary a few months after being rescued.
