In June of 2025 I received a call from another rescue seeing if I could take in a blind Maltese. She was found wandering the streets in a small town south of San Antonio. She was found wandering at night, matted and covered in fleas. The fleas were so bad she was bleeding. She had clearly been neglected for some time. It is a miracle she survived with no eyesight and limited hearing. On June 11, a wonderful soul picked her up and met me halfway. She was a pitiful sight. After medical attention, grooming and lots of TLC she began to show her trust.  

Big Freedia, our queen of bounce, now has free roam of the sanctuary. She has learned to map her space and delights in picking the largest bed for herself. She also loves to snuggle with our sweet pittie, Jameson. Mealtime is a favorite (who knows how long she went without food).
